Mechanical pressure gauges are absolute pressure gauges which measure the pressure directly by the force exerted on a known surface. In the Bourdon manometer, the pressure acts on the inner surface of a circular or spiral tube. The geometrie of the tube provides different surface size for expanding and contracting forces which leads to a deformation of the tube with pressure variations. Transmission mechanics transform the deformation of the tube into a needle deflection indicating the pressure.
The Bourdon gauges are easy to install and to operate, robust and reliable for long, trouble free operation in gross vacuum processes.
